GlaxoSmithKline and the Oswald Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) Collaborating to Research & Develop New Medicines for Neglected Tropical Diseases

GlaxoSmithKline and the Oswald Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) announced today a unique collaboration to research and develop new and innovative medicines to treat neglected diseases such as: malaria, tuberculosis, chagas, and leishmaniasis; the focus will be on chagas and leishmaniasis. This new collaboration will have a great impact on neglected diseases, there will now be a sharing of ideas, research, and resources all aiming toward an important and needy cause.

Wrapping Up UN Week, But Not Shutting Up

It’s been an interesting week here in New York during UN Week. While the pace and spread of information has been frenzied, we can’t deny that the use of social media has opened up the conversation about international development, global health, and philanthropy to a much larger audience of caring, concerned citizens all across the globe.  The words “social good” have certainly entered into my rhetoric after this week.
