Here at The Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases, we’ve come to understand the power of “social good.” We’ve witnessed the impact that social media tools like and can have in raising awareness of the world’s most “neglected” issues. Social media has become an important component of our communication strategy, and to raise awareness of neglected tropical diseases to a wide global audience, we need to harness the power of these tools to spread our message.”
This week, to coincide with “UN Week”, the UN Foundation, in partnership with Mashable (an online guide to social media) and 92 Street Y (a NYC cultural and community center) will be hosting the UN Week Digital Media Lounge, a fully-wired environment for bloggers and journalists looking for innovative ways to cover the events during “UN Week.” The Digital Media Lounge will bring together digital media with in-person briefings from global leaders from governments, civil society, NGOs, the entertainment world, the private sector, and digital media and technology. An agenda of the event can be found here.
